Some couples just have that connection you can feel when you're around them, and Elsa and Sal are absolutely one of those couples.
They were married on a beautiful Sunday with perfect weather and surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
Their day was filled with so many personal touches — family, faith, music, laughter and some incredibly emotional moments.
But what stood out to me most throughout their wedding day was simply the way Elsa and Sal are together.
When they're looking at each other, it truly feels like no one else is around.
And their wedding day was filled with those moments.
Getting Ready for Their Wedding Day
The beginning of a wedding day always has its own kind of excitement.
Everyone knows what's coming, but there's still this feeling of anticipation while the final details come together. The dresses are being put on, ties are being straightened, flowers are arriving and the people closest to the couple are gathering around them.
For Elsa and Sal, family was going to be such an important part of their entire day.
They wanted the people they love to be part of their celebration, but they also wanted to make sure they actually had time to enjoy being with them.
That played a big part in how they planned the beginning of their wedding day.
Elsa & Sal’s First Look
This was my favorite part of their wedding day.
Elsa and Sal chose to do a first look before their ceremony, and watching the two of them together during those few minutes was so sweet.
There is something about the way they look at each other.
The rest of the world seems to disappear.
Even with everything happening around them and an entire wedding day ahead, they had this little pocket of time that belonged only to them.
Watching Sal see Elsa for the first time was emotional, but what I loved even more was what happened afterward.
They relaxed.
They smiled.
They looked at each other.
And for those few minutes, nothing else seemed to matter.
Those are some of my favorite moments to photograph because they can't really be planned or recreated.
It's simply two people completely wrapped up in each other.
Private Vows, Communion & Time Together
Their first look wasn't the only private moment Elsa and Sal planned before their ceremony.
They also chose to exchange private vows and take communion together.
It was quiet, personal and incredibly meaningful.
With so much of a wedding day spent surrounded by other people, I loved that they intentionally created time where it was just the two of them.
It gave them a chance to slow down and really take in what was happening.
They were about to get married.
After months of planning, their day was finally here.
Celebrating at Vintage Rose Barn
Elsa and Sal chose Vintage Rose Barn, Gobles Michigan for their wedding day.
The Vintage Rose Barn is such a beautiful place. Their outdoor ceremony space is one of my favorites. They have done some major updates to the space over the past few years.
The venue created such a beautiful setting for their celebration and gave us plenty of opportunities for photographs throughout the day.
Surrounded by Their Favorite People
One thing that was especially important to Elsa and Sal was spending time with their family and guests.
Because of that, they decided to complete their wedding party and important family photographs before the ceremony.
It ended up being such a great choice for the kind of wedding day they wanted.
Instead of spending a huge amount of time taking formal photographs after the ceremony, they were able to enjoy more of their celebration and visit with the people who came to be there for them.
And you could tell how important those relationships were.
There were so many laughs, hugs and little interactions throughout the day that showed just how loved these two are.
A Ceremony Made Even More Personal
When it was finally time for Elsa and Sal to get married, their family wasn't only there watching.
They were part of it.
Two of Elsa's siblings played music during the ceremony, which made an already emotional moment even more personal.
There is something incredibly special about incorporating the people you love into your wedding day in ways that actually mean something to you.
These weren't just wedding traditions being checked off a list.
They were moments that belonged specifically to Elsa and Sal.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
Elsa and Sal were officially married. ❤️
The Celebration Begins
Once the ceremony was over, it was finally time to celebrate.
This was exactly why Elsa and Sal had chosen to get so many of their photographs finished earlier.
They could be present.
They could hug their family, visit with their guests, laugh with their friends and enjoy the wedding they had spent so much time planning.
The reception was filled with the same warmth that had been present throughout their entire day.
And then came one of the biggest surprises.
A Song Made Just for Elsa & Sal
During the speeches, Elsa's sister and brother had something very special for them.
They had made a song for Elsa and Sal.
And when they played it during the reception, there were emotions everywhere.
It was one of those moments where you didn't only watch Elsa and Sal's reactions. You could look around the room and see how much it meant to everyone who loves them.
There were tears.
There were smiles.
And there were so many emotions happening all at once.
It was such a beautiful way for Elsa's siblings to give them something completely personal that they will always remember from their wedding day.
Just the Two of Them
Throughout the day, I kept coming back to the same thing.
The way Elsa and Sal are together.
Whether they were surrounded by their entire wedding party, standing in front of all their guests or having a quiet moment alone, their attention always seemed to find its way back to each other.
That's what I hope they remember when they look through these photographs years from now.
Not only how beautiful everything looked.
But how it felt.
The excitement before seeing each other.
The emotions during their vows.
Their siblings playing music.
The people who surrounded them.
The song made especially for them.
And all those little moments when it seemed like no one else in the world existed.

Elsa and Sal created a wedding day centered around the things that mattered most to them — each other, their faith, their families and the people they love.
