Hi, I’m Shawnia — the photographer behind Oh Shoot Photography.

I’m a West Michigan wedding photographer based in Kalamazoo, serving couples throughout Grand Rapids, South Haven, and beyond. Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but weddings are where my heart truly found its place.

What started as a hobby photographing sports and seniors has grown into the business I run today. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of capturing hundreds of weddings and countless milestones—but what matters most to me has never changed.

It’s about holding onto moments that pass far too quickly.

When my husband and I got married, we didn’t have a professional photographer. It’s something I’ve carried with me ever since—knowing how important those memories are and how quickly they fade without something to hold onto.

Because of that, I never take it lightly when a couple trusts me to capture their day.

My approach to wedding photography is true-to-color, natural, and candid. I focus on real moments—the laughter with your friends, the quiet time with your parents, the in-between glances you didn’t even realize were happening. Those are the moments that matter most.

I’ll guide you when you need it and step back when you don’t, so your photos never feel forced—just real and true to you.

Outside of photography, family is everything to me. I’ve been married to my husband for over 25 years, and we have two amazing adult sons who have supported this dream from the very beginning—even through long wedding days and late nights behind the computer.

Running Oh Shoot Photography has given me the opportunity to meet incredible couples, watch families grow, and be part of some of the most meaningful days in people’s lives—and that’s something I will never take for granted.
